“I just installed the AA E-Book version of the Big Book and the 12 and 12. Its only $12.00 for both on your iPhone. It rocks – you can flip pages, high light stuff and save it, look up words to be found (not defined), go to a page you want – lots of bells and whistles – they did a great job with both of them.”…David C – Media Services Chair

Below is a response to an email I sent to the “A.A.W.S. Online Store Support Team”
Hi David,

Thank you for conveying this to us.  I'm happy to respond!

For the most part the main issues we've encountered have to do with members not realizing that the initial App only supports Apple devices.  A number of members have purchased books hoping to download them to their Kindle, Nook or
laptop computer.  Before opening, we thought we had adequately communicated on all of this but that proved to be inadequate.  We have since made significant changes to the Online Store web site to emphasize this in a way that folks get a clearer understanding and we think that is working.

The second most prevalent misunderstanding is with iPad owners who are disappointed when they use the App because they were expecting a true "iPad" App.  Here again this is an issue with communication and we have tried to clarify better that the App is an iPhone App that can be used on an iPad and is not a true iPad App.

Your suggestion about allowing the app to work when the device is rotated to"landscape" mode.  It is not uncommon for iPhone Apps to only work in"portrait" mode and frankly we never considered that might be good to do so I will look into it further.

For your information, in early 2012 we plan to release a version of the App for Android-based smart phones, similar to the iPhone App.  We also plan to release a version of the APP that fully exploits the larger display on the iPad.  We will also be offering additional A.A. literature as eBooks.  The first of those will be the Daily Reflections.

Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback!

Charlie
